Cause

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue is the charity that saves lives on the water.

More than 950 volunteers operate 31 marine rescue stations along the coast of BC and in the Shuswap. Professionally trained rescue crews are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ready to respond to marine emergencies at a moment’s notice.

Every year, hundreds of people find themselves in trouble on the water—from families dealing with a mechanical issue, paddlers struggling against the sea conditions, and individuals facing real danger.

When the pager goes off, our volunteers drop everything to respond. They need to move fast, work together, and make smart decisions—often in challenging and unpredictable conditions, and this can only be accomplished through consistent training.

RCMSAR volunteers also provide boating safety information, conduct courtesy pleasure craft safety checks, and provide loaner lifejackets for kids through the Kids Don't Float Program.
